What has Daisy been doing since the Annual Conference?

There is always a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes throughout the year, such as membership renewals, and article gathering for Update. The needs website to be kept current and monitoring of our forum and answering queries and requests are dealt with. All this is achieved by a small group of dedicated women taking care of their particular role and working as a team all voluntary and on top of busy lives.

On August 6th, a representative of Daisy did an interview for Radio Gloucester to comment on the lack of availability of 3 free cycles on the NHS as per Nice guidelines. These guidelines are not met by many PCT’s across England and Wales, an issue Gloucester radio picked up on.

In September the Daisy Network committee held a meeting to discuss plans for next year’s Annual conference 15th Anniversary, working procedures for running the network and developing ideas to improve services we provide.

In October Daisy was approached for a case story for Red magazine, which Joanne did, the journalist also wanted to hear other women’s stories and emotions surrounding their POF and we were able to provide them with 4 other ladies willing to talk. Two of which were form our committee, Kimberley and Jane. Thank you so much to those who took part. The piece should appear early next year.

October 6th

Joanne attended the 6 monthly meeting of AFPO (Association of fertility patient organisations of which Daisy is a member) with the HFEA, held in London. This is always a great way to network with other similar groups and be involved with the HFEA on a stronger footing.

October 12th

Joanne attends the Transrep advisory group meeting in Leicester at De Montfort University. This study is looking at why women and couples travel to other countries in search of fertility treatment.

October 12th

We posted out our Autumn/Winter edition of Update, some go as far as New Zealand and Australia. Some 340 copies are sent out including our patrons and friends of the charity.

November 27th

Joanne Banks will be attending ‘Advances in Gynaecology: Reproductive and Post-reproductive health’ held for GP’s and Nurses, on behalf of The Daisy Network. The course director is Mr Nick Panay who will be giving a lecture on ovarian aging and early menopause and Miss Joan Pitkin will be presenting an Update on HRT. Some of you may remember her from the 2008 Annual Conference.

Annual Conference

The Annual Conference is the perfect opportunity for you to meet other members of the group and explore issues around early menopause. We positively encourage members, their partners, friends and family to come – it’s informative, it shows that you are not alone and is great fun! If the thought of attending seems a little daunting, we offer a buddy system to put you at your ease.

This years Annual Conference, held at the Kings Fund in London, was well attended and received some very good feedback.

This year's expert speakers included:
